Your eyes are the most important and complex organ you have. Of your many physical senses, you devote 95% of processing power to your vision. Keeping your eyes in good shape will reduce strain, improve corneal flexibility, increase attention span and give you a better quality of life.
Some more tips for healthy eyes:
- Practice eye yoga
- Get regular eye exams. These can help detect conditions like cataracts and glaucoma. At 60, these should be yearly, even if you have good vision.
- If you stare at a screen regularly, take a break every 20 minutes for at least 20 seconds.
- Protect your eyes from ultraviolet light by wearing sunglasses.
- Drink plenty of water to keep your eyes lubricated.
- Vegetables for improving eye health include kale, spinach, carrots and oranges, among others.
- Don’t vape or smoke and avoid secondhand cigarette smoke.
